BEE Registration and Star Rating Certification by ERA Global Standards Certification
BEE Introduction
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, aims to promote energy conservation and cost savings through the implementation of energy efficiency standards. The BEE Star Rating Program evaluates the energy performance of products and assigns star ratings to help consumers make informed decisions. Mandatory for certain notified items, the BEE Star Label is a mark of energy efficiency and a step toward sustainable practices under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
Why is BEE Certification Important?
- Energy Efficiency Awareness: The BEE certification raises awareness about energy-efficient products, encouraging consumers to choose environmentally friendly options.
- Indication of Product Performance: The star rating systemindicates the product’s efficiency, with higher star ratings denoting better energy performance.
- Consumer Trust: Products with a BEE label gain consumer confidence by demonstrating energy savings and performance reliability.
- Regulatory Compliance: Manufacturers must comply with mandatory BEE certification for specific product categories to legally sell in the Indian market.
Products Covered Under BEE Certification
BEE certification applies to two types of products:
- Mandatory Products: Includes air conditioners, refrigerators, electric motors, and distribution transformers.
- Voluntary Products: Covers items like tyre, lithium ion battery, washing machines, microwave ovens, and LED lighting.
